On Thursday, January 28, we met with our Learning Buddies from Mrs. Kelly-Miller's class. We hadn't seen them since before the winter holiday when we had worked so hard on our Cold Lady song and stop motion animation. Mrs. Kelly-Miller, Mrs. Piquette, and Mrs. Proud wanted to find something fun for the students to do that would get them outside in the snow. We had hoped to go use the crazy carpets, but there was far too much ice. Mrs. Kelly-Miller had the amazing idea to use the parachute outside in the snow. The result was some crazy fun!

Dramatic Changes
The movie theatre. Here is the post you were promised a mere few minutes ago. When the topic was introduced and the movie theatre was chosen as the next stage for our dramatic play, the children were, perhaps, the most excited we have seen them all year. EVERYONE got involved in creating props for the centre. We now have movie posters, tickets, money, signs, and very excited children in our classroom.
After the children had made a plethora of materials, they went outside for recess. Mrs. Piquette and Mrs. Proud decided to surprise the children by aiming the projector at the "movie screen" and quietly turning it on when the students came in. We played a Magic School Bus video and the reaction was quite amazing! Check out the video below:

Crazy Carpets!
On Thursday, January 21, we took our class sledding on the hill at the back field behind the school. We have a class set of crazy carpets, and the children (and teachers) LOVED sliding down the hill. We spent the entire morning outside in the beautiful winter weather. Enjoy these amazing photos!
Camping in January!
At the beginning of the month we asked our students what they would like to see in our dramatic play centre. Since the Veterinarian's office had been such a big hit in December, we wanted to explore the children's interests further and involve them more in creating a dramatic play space for them to explore. The children came up with many ideas, and then we voted. The winning vote was for camping.
We were very impressed with the children's ideas, and hope to explore some more of their interests over the coming months. At the time of this writing, we have somewhat abandoned this list, as the children have shown an interest in all things movie related. So many children have been to the movie theatre lately to see a movie with their families, that it is on their mind. We created a movie theatre this week. Stay tuned for a post about that!

Return to Blogging and Updates from the Last Month!
With the busy holiday season and the equally busy return to school, there has not been much time to blog or update the website. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We do have several posts coming to update you about what has been going on so far in 2016. We wanted to start the new year by sharing a video of our performance at the holiday concert from Thursday, December 17, 2015. This was the performance we did in the morning, for the whole school. We were lucky enough to be able to do our song twice! We also created an amazing trailer with a few grade 5/6 students that everyone loved. Both videos can be found below.
